Amit Bagaria

Amit Bagaria is a highly admired shopping centre development consultant in India and founder Chairman of two companies – award winning Asipac Projects, India’s leading mall planning, development and leasing consultants which has conceptualized and marketed seven of India’s 15 largest malls and has also provided marketing strategy and ideas to four other real estate projects which have all won marketing awards and Arus Retail, which has promoted MEN & BOYS, India’s first retail chain exclusively dedicated to men’s skincare and grooming. 

During university education in the USA, he received the coveted National Collegiate Government Award, a President's Scholarship, Journalist of the Year Award, All-American Journalist Award, Newspaper Achievement Award, and was featured in the Who's Who in American Colleges & Universities. 

Amit started his career in 1987 in the retail sector with Hallmark Cards in USA.  In 1991, he set up two business ventures, a travel services company which he sold in 1996, and a medical technology business which in 1996 transformed into a 50:50 JV with an American Fortune 500 corporation, to provide healthcare consulting and hospital planning/design in India.  Clients included Tata, Reliance, Aditya Birla, ILFS, Escorts, Max and Wockhardt.  Working with RTKL and NBBJ on 11 projects, Amit trained extensively on facility planning.  
 
In 2003, due to unavoidable circumstances, he wound up the JV and moved Asipac towards malls and retail real estate.  Asipac is credited with many firsts in Indian real estate and has won several awards.
 
Amit has been a speaker or anchor/moderator at Cityscape Dubai 2009, CREDAI National Conventions in 2006, 2007 and 2008; HICSA 2006, TISS, Symbiosis, KIAMS, IFF 2005, Franchise & Retail Opportunities 2007, CII Estate South 2007, Managing Construction Risk 2008, Economic Times Pre-Budget Symposium 2008, GIREM 2008 and 2009, GRI World Summit London 2008 and ISCF 2010.  He has been a jury member for the Images Shopping Centre Awards. He has co-authored a college textbook on Hospital Planning and has published several articles in Indian Express, Images Retail, Shopping Centre News, Images Mall Yearbook 2005, Malls in India 2007. He writes a weekly property column in DNA.

He is an invitee to the Board of Shopping Centres Association of India, Member of the International Council of Shopping Centres, Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Member of the Urban Land Institute (USA), Member of FICCI National Housing Committee and has been Member of CII National Healthcare Committee in the past.

In 14 years of consulting, Amit has (amongst other achievements) advised Mukesh Ambani and the Board of Reliance Industries on the entry strategy for the retail business, advised Kumar Mangalam Birla and the Board of Aditya Birla Management Corporation on various aspects pertaining to the Rs.160 crore Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital, advised the Tata Group on cost reduction in hospital operations in Kerala, advised Micky Jagtiani's Landmark Gulf Group to bring Home Centre to India, gave the idea to Future Group to start Brand Factory, advised UAE-based Paris Gallery on entry strategy for India, advised ILFS on entry strategy for their healthcare business, advised Analjit Singh of Max on entry strategy for his healthcare business, visualized and helped create new retail formats such as Reliance Timeout Corner, Hi Chai, Men and boyS and Winters.
